Supporting Mobility and Independence

What began as a ministry trip to South Africa became another opportunity to serve.

After connecting with a beloved South African family, we traveled to Bethlehem in South Africa’s Free State to support orthotic and prosthetic care at Phekolong Hospital.

There, we served children and adults living with the effects of polio, limb amputation, clubfoot, cerebral palsy, and other conditions affecting their mobility.

Orthotic and prosthetic devices, specialized shoes, and additional materials were provided so that needed devices and footwear could continue to be created and modified after our departure.

We are especially grateful to Mamiky and her team. Mamiky creates and fits orthotic and prosthetic devices for patients, turning materials into something deeply practical: greater mobility, independence, and quality of life.

This mission reminded us of the importance of not simply meeting an immediate need, but strengthening the hands of those already serving their community every day.
